Now I have just heard that there is another law school ranking system looking to overtake the U.S. News & World Report rankings.  Jonathan Turley has blogged about the Cooley Law School rankings.  Now we can all say once again that my law school is better than your law school (yes, my alma matter is in the top 20, but that does not mean I think it is better than yours).

Personally, I think all law schools need to revamp the way they teach law.  Since when does legal theory get you anywhere?  When I found myself tossed into a trial at the last minute this week, I kept thinking that I had never been prepared for this.  Trial Advocay prepared me a little but Moot Court didn’t do jack.  But if you want to know the theories behind our Nation’s penal system, I can tell you that!  I guarantee that my client could have cared less.  All she wanted was to make sure her child was not taken away by DCS.  Law school never prepared me for that.

Grumblings aside, if you go to law school, know that you are going to get out of it what you put in it.  And select a law school that works for you.  It is a reality that most of use will not end up at huge firms making six figures.  Those firms are letting associates go left and right in this economy.  Know that it is a great possibility that you will need more preperation than what your law school can provide.  And hope that maybe some day that will change.

But while you are waiting, read Jonathan Turley’s blog.  It is an enjoyable read every day.

Let me just say that only a very disciplined person should take on the Self-Guided BarBri Course.  I have only made it through 2 subjects while the in-class course should be through at least 4 by now. I will blame part of it on the late start because of moving, but a lot of it is just having so much other stuff to do  too.  I cannot imagine having a job while also studying for the Bar.  I am putting in 8+ hours of studying in every day and I still feel like I am so far behind!

I just wanted to post a quick update that I am here in Tennessee now.  Alive and well, but busy beyond belief.  I hope to post more often now that I am finally getting into a “normal” schedule.

That is part of the reasons things are quiet here.  I had finals, then graduation and finally a trip to Disneyland with the little sister.  Now I will spend the next 5 days packing up for the big move.  Finally, I will drive cross-country until I land in Tennessee.  I will keep you posted, but internet access will be limited throughout this journey.

We all experience change in our lives.  Some embrace it and some push back in retaliation, happy to remain where they are.  Whomever you are, I hope that your next chapter is exciting, enlightening and blessed.

like I bombed that one too. Let’s hope that I did better than 20% of my classmates.

Good news is that my new ski clothes came in today! Yeah!!!!

I should also say that Erin and I had a blast this weekend going window shopping at Ikea and eating tasty fake-Mexican at Rubios!!! I was impressed that my burrito was so nicely wrapped that it stood up on its own:

It is a sad, sad day when your freezer is covered in a layer of ice, but it won’t freeze your ice cubes. *sigh* I knew it was time to take action when I made my coffee this morning. I couldn’t open the door enough to remove the ice cube tray (this is one of those dorms fridges, where the freezer is just an ice box with a plastic flip door). When I finally got the tray wiggled out, there was no ice!!!! Something had to be done to remedy this tragedy! Defrost, I must!

And, yes, I do put ice in my coffee. 4 – 6 cubes. Even in the winter. I just cannot drink hot drinks (yummy room-temp hot chocolate!)
