In a way he is right.  I want every year to be my best year yet.  Better than the year before.  I like to think this year is special as I will be turning 30. Turning 30 creates a need to complete inside my head. Complete outstanding goals and lists.  Because turning 30 means that I have definitely lived 1/3 of my life (and the way health problems run in my family, I might even be closer to the half-way point than I think). 

But I have a month and a half before I hit the big 3-0, so lets focus on the now!

Last night I was blessed to have friends with whom I could ring in the New Year.

It was a blast to hang out with Erin and everyone else to see the ball drop in Market Square in downtown Knoxville!

Then today, it was off to the movies with the family and then running on the Greenbelt.  What a great way to start 2010!  Hope your start to the New Year was as great as mine.

That is right. Snow in April!  There wasn’t a lot of it, but still… SNOW!

Today is the day before I run my first half marathon.  I decided to take it easy by hanging out with my family.  We went to see “Monsters vs Aliens” which was in 3D.  These were the stunning glasses I got to wear.  It was a cute movie. Three out of five stars.  It had its moments, but it went a little slow in some places.  You really can’t do that in a kids movie. And the Carmike Foothills was the busiest I have ever seen it.  Then again, I have never been to a Saturday matinee of a kid’s movie during opening weekend.  I guess it is the place to be!

I also tried Zaxby’s for the first time today.  The Boneless Chicken Wings were fine, as were the crinkle cut fries.  Better that some other choices out there for fast food.  I would rather make my own at home, but my blood sugar was low and I had to eat NOW.  It was Zaxby’s or Chick-fil-A.  Next time I think I will go with .  Love their chicken nuggets.

Wish me luck at the half marathon tomorrow.  I’m number 1421.

That evening My Shelly(Michelle) teamed up with us for a dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at City Walk by Universal Studios. Going to a HRC has been a birthday tradition since my 21st birthday. I think that tradition will officially be over with the last birthday in my 20′s.

I have been having issues with Hard Rock for a while. They have been moving more towarda casinos and taken my favorite dish off the menu twice in a decade(R.I.P Chicken Spinach Artichoke Dip). I have visited Hard Rocks around the world and the service gets worse and worse each time I go. Tonight it was rough, to say the least. I shouldn’t have to ask for a drink refill. But if one of us has to ask, you might want to see if any one else in the party needs a refill too. Not only were we asking, but we couldn’t even ask because when the server set a drink down, he would rush off without pausing a second. I yelled after the server, to no avail. That was one glimse into how the evening at Hard Rock Cafe went.

Tomorrow the Husband, My Shelly and I head to Disney. We plan to have dinner at Tokyo Dining in Epcot, so here is hoping we have a good experence.
