This is a post for Weekend Herb Blogging.
This week it is hosted by Sher over at What Did You Eat?

I know, another green bean recipe. What can I say? It is one of the few veggies the husband will eat (besides raw carrots and potatoes - even though I have been told potatoes don’t count any more). So I gave another green bean recipes a try. This one is from allrecipes.com. I thought this was a pretty good recipes, but the husband thought it was just an OK recipe. I over cooked the green beans, so I will take some credit for some of his lack luster. What it boiled down to: he didn’t like the sauce paired with the green beans. I, on the other hand, LOVED the sweet and spicy sauce. So this recipe is gets one thumbs up and one thumbs down. Try it out and let me know what you think!

The Steps:

  1. Arrange a steamer basket in a pot over boiling water, and steam the green beans 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, garlic, garlic chili sauce, and honey.
  3. Heat the canola oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the green beans, and fry for 3 to 5 minutes. Pour in the soy sauce mixture. Continue cooking and stirring 2 minutes, or until the liquid is nearly evaporated. Serve immediately.

  1. Yowza! Garlic chili sauce, soy sauce, and garlic. I’m so there for this dish. No wonder your husband loves it so much!

  2. I love the sound of the sauce if you’re taking votes. But it does have a lot of strong flavors, so I can see that not everyone would like it. I’d be tempted to make this without steaming the beans first so it was more like a stir-fry.

  3. What an inspiration to do green beans! I give it a try never mind how surprised my loved ones are!! :)

  4. Excellent flavour combo, this would go well with all sorts of veggies!
