I finally did it. I finally signed up and paid money for my first 5k. I am going to be traveling to Orlando in September for the Expedition Everest Challenge. Technically, it is a bit more than a 5k. First, you get to run a 5k in Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Next, you head into the parking lot for an obstacle course. Finally, you head back into the park for a scavenger hunt. Doesn’t that sound like a blast?!? And you get to do it in teams, so the Husband and I will actually be doing the Challenge together.
I am actually hoping to participate in a 5k before then, probably once I move to Tennessee. But if nothing else, I am committed to doing this one in a few months. Plus it means the Husband has to take me to Disney again. Yeah!

The Husband and I are meeting up with the rest of my family to hang out over at WDW. It will be the first time my Husband meets my sister’s husband! And we are sharing a hotel room! Better with us than their kids, right?
Anyways, I will update on all the festivities upon my return next week!

I was able to spend a wonderfully long weekend in Florida, specifically the Orlando area. It was in celelbration of my birthday and because Disney is now doing a Pirates and Princess Party on select week nights. Have I ever menioned my love for Disney? I worked Entertainment for 4 years at the Wonderful World of Disney before moving out to California to start law school and the much more serious career of being a lawyer. But my love for Disney will always remain. Especially my enjoyment of characters! I get giddy like a little kid when I see them. Although I know the ‘truth’ the magic will always remain. I have an even greater joy of finding characters that are not normally found in the parks. At the Pirates and Princess Party, I found two new characters to add to my collection. Sebastian and Abu!

I love my characters!
But the trip was not all about Disney. I was also there to celebrate my 27th birthday. I always go to the Hard Rock Cafe in celebration. Luckily, this year I got the option of whether or not to have the whole place take notice… and I decided to make it a quite celebration in our booth. I just wanted the ice cream!

And last but not least, the trip was to visit my family. My parents live in Central Florida, with my sister not far away in Georgia. I got to spend some time with them and my niece and nephew. It has been months since I last saw them. They grow up so fast!

That basically sums up the fun and excitment of my long weekend. I also got to catch up with my firnds Michelle (MyShelly) and Colleen, as well as Nellie - who is now an old married woman herself! My how quickly we change. And a visit could not be complete with out a meal at Chevy’s (my mom’s favorite restaurant) and a trip to the movies. Dad, Brooke and I saw
Hannibal Rising… I give it a C+. It was much better than the movie option on the plane:
Man of the Year (C-). Although I would have to give my latest Netflix rental a bit higher of a rating:
Nacho Libre (B-… too many gas jokes). But it is good to be back and I am already back into the swing of things… Mediation Team practice is back on tonight! Oh well, Florida was fun while it lasted!
