Blogging is my way to procrastinate. Yes, I should be working on school stuff and cleaning the apartment, but instead I thought I should talk about the food in Seattle. I finally posted pictures from our trip here, so I want throw all of the food pics up.

Our day in Seattle took us to The Crab Pot. It was some pretty good fish, although I thought my fish tacos were pretty small. Maybe 1 - 1.5 oz of fish per taco? And that might be over estimating. The fish and chips that we split between 4 of us was actually better. Nicely fired, but a little bit greasier than I like. I would say that the highlight of the restaurant was the service. Jasmine was a treat and made sure all of our needs were met. She was very personable. I just wish the food had been slightly better.
The night was all planned with reservations at Mamounia Moroccan Restaurant and Lounge. That was some tasty stuff! It was actually my first time eating at Moroccan restaurant. I had forgotten that I would be eating with my hands, so that was interesting! But we all dug in and had fun with it. Th best meal of the trip by far. When you eat there on a Friday or Saturday night you have to go with a set 5 course menu where each person can choose thier own main course. The best of the best was the Chicken Bastilla appetizer. A beautiful balance of sweet and savory was a chicken and almonds in a filo pastry baked with cinnamon and powdered sugar. I would love to make one of these at home! I had the Prawn Brochettes with the apricot and peach sauce… but what I really wanted was more of the Chicken Bastilla!
Saturday was a competition day, which meant all meals were provided for us. We did end up getting room service for a late night meal since we had to stay up to prep for finals the following day. All of the food was ‘ok.’ The spinach dip was more sour cream than spinach, the hot wings needed a crisper fry, but the nachos were edible.
After finals, we hit Pike Place Market one last time and headed over to Piroshky-Piroshky for some more tasty treats. I went with an Oscar’s Star. The topping was good, a nice combination of cream and hazelnuts, but the pastry tasted like it had been made the night before. Angela’s Whole Baked Apple was delicious. A nice soft, but not too soft apple with a crisp - yet chewy - crust.
I hope you enjoyed a recap of my eatin’s in Seattle. Stay tuned for Nationals in D.C. We will be there for a much longer time so hopefully I will get in some really great food. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
