The Husband’s half sister recently passed away from Pancreatic Cancer, so we headed up to St. Louis, MO for the funeral. While I have been to many, many funerals, this one in encompassed many “firsts” for me. It was the first funeral I had been to that there was no body. She had donated her’s to science and I guess they take possession immediately. It was also my first Catholic funeral, meaning a full Mass. I have been to one Catholic wedding before (the MIL’s) but there was only a partial Mass there. It was interesting and my thighs got a bit of a workout. And finally, it was the first time I had been to a luncheon after a funeral. Yes, a full blown catered and held at a banquet hall luncheon.
As far as the Husband’s half-sister goes, I had only met her once and she was a pleasant woman. She lived a very full life, had children and grandchildren, and lived to the ripe old age of 73. Yes, she was taken too soon, but may she rest in peace. Sadly, with her departing, the Husband only has one half-sister and one full-sister left.
